Facial Twitching

About two weeks before the start of school in August 2001, I noticed Daniel was wincing his left eye. He said it felt irritated, so I put drops in the eye to relieve the discomfort. However, the twitching continued. He then complained about pressure behind the eye and a headache on his left side. I immediately made an appointment with the eye doctor suspecting there must be something behind the eye causing the pressure. The eye doctor found nothing "ocular" that could be causing the problem.

I then made an appointment with Daniel’s pediatrician because the wincing/twitching continued and he couldn’t seem to control it. The pediatrician considered it a nervous tic probably due to starting school. She found nothing else wrong with Daniel. Before leaving her office, she gave me the name of a pediatric neurologist. As soon as I heard the word "neurologist," I thought of Dr. Z!

After speaking to Dr. Z about Daniel’s problem/condition, he immediately said, "I can help him." I brought Daniel to see Dr. Z in October 2001. Dr. Z knew exactly what was causing the condition, and within a few short visits and treatments, the twitching had almost stopped completely. We continued to see Dr. Z twice a week and between visits, the twitching became less and less frequent.

It has been three months since our first visit with Dr. Z and the twitching is non-existent. Daniel is thrilled the twitching is gone. He told me just recently he was being teased at school because of this problem. Other kids would call out his name and when he looked, they mimicked his twitch. Daniel and I are both very impressed with Dr. Z. He is very knowledgeable in the field of neurology and chiropractic care.
